Turner Prize Drawing
Sessions – Run by Marc Renshaw for the Top Draw and Picture Box Art Groups.
Top Draw is an artists’ collective based in their current
studio at Cromwell Road Day Centre. Formed in 2009, the group specialise in

The Top Draw team facilitated the 2015 Big Draw again this year. A highly detailed corridor drawing made by an individual over five years was the inspiration for our take on the theme - 'Every Drawing Tells a Story.'
Our team would like to thank all the hard work produced by individuals and staff based at Cromwell Road Health and Well Being Centre, The Bert Boyden Centre and The Curzon Centre along with other external community groups. Well done to all!

In early September 2013, the group visited Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
Craig: 'We got to see all different artwork. I liked the Orta exhibition and enjoyed travelling in the countryside. It's good to get out to see professional artwork. It help us as a group to learn from the best.'

The Big Draw 2013 is well under way with just under two weeks until it closes.
This year the Top Draw and Picture Box groups have combined to run this years event. The theme this year is 'Draw Tomorrow.'
We are currently using found materials to make a fictional cityscape of a futuristic Grimsby.
We are inviting the public to come to Cafe 4 supported by Care4all to add to the city. We are also making a 'Wall of Dreams' where people can draw and write down their future hopes - imaginary or rea...

The sixth Artworks4all exhibition took place in April 2013. The show received lots of very positive feedback including one visitor who said that it was 'The best exhibition I've seen in Grimsby for years.'
There were over 300 works exhibited both individual and collaborative.
Top Draw group members David and Jimmy won the photography and painting/drawing prizes respectively.

In a preview to Artworks4all – an art exhibition celebrating the creative talents of people with disabilities in North East Lincolnshire - the Top Draw Collective is currently showing a series of work on the sea theme.
The Groups show is part of the ‘All at Sea Festival of Arts and Literature’ in North East Lincolnshire Libraries.

Jimmy has been working on a series of drawings which he will use to make a large painting for Cafe 4 at Queen Street, Grimsby.

The Top Draw visited two major exhibitions in recent months. The first in September was the Andy Warhol show at The Ferens Art Gallery in Hull. The second visit was to The Collection Gallery in Lincoln which all the members thoroughly enjoyed.

We plan future visits to The Nottingham Contemporary Gallery and The York Art Gallery in 2013.

The Top Draw team would like to send our best wishes and good luck to long standing members Alan and Jonathan.
Alan has moved to Barnsley to be closer to his family and Jonathan is trying out another group which he is enjoying.
We will be developing a honoury members/alumni section to the website over the coming months for our former artists.

The Top Draw team took part in the annual national drawing month 'The Big Draw' throughout October by inviting service users and staff across Cromwell road and Queen Street health and Well Being centres to draw and 'post a face.' Our theme was collective and individual identities.
The completed images will be put together to make a large football style crowd of faces which will feature at our next exhibition.

The Top Draw group's first LCD screen exhibition was a great success with positive feedback from the general public, service users, carers, library and care plus group staff.The next planned show will take place at Queen Street Health and Well Being Centre in Grimsby.

Top Draw.
In a first for the library, digital artworks will be on the tourist information LCD TV screen in the main lending library on the ground floor, with an exclusive introduction to the artists and their respective practices shown in the main foyer area...
